When I teach the letters to my students, I have learned the more variety available the more likely all the students will know the letter. This week we are learning about the letter Ff. We have searched for the letter around the classroom, we have written the letter, we have built the letter with play dough, and we have sorted pictures that begin with the letter sound.
We are also learning about the season fall. Today we created our own trees with crayons and paint. I learned that next time we paint, I must give the children more time!

Piaget believed play promotes cognitive knowledge and is a means by which children construct knowledge of their world. Other researchers agree with Piaget that play is an essential part of young children's learning. However, not all play is the same.
We had another great week! We learned about the letter Mm, Little Miss Muffet, the number 2, and the difference between day and night.
The first week of school was super fun! We made spiders, we learned about Jack and Jill by acting out the story, and we drew a picture of the story!
We practiced our gross motor skills by throwing and catching balls! We learned that using scissors is difficult! Thank you to the families that are supporting us! There are still a few spaces available! Hurry before those spaces fill! Today was the first day of preschool!! We had a blast dancing, singing, acting out nursery rhymes, and playing with play-dough. We also started to learn about the letter Ss and the number 1.
We are born with one hundred billion nerve cells in our brain! As we learn and develop those nerve cells connect, these connections become permanent through repetition. Brain connections that are not used repeatedly wither away.
The more brain connections a child has the more likely the child will be successful in school! At Little Stars Academy we strive to help children's brain connections become permanent through hands on exploring, developing larger vocabulary by talking with the teacher and other children, and understanding each child is unique. |
